               Tech mahindra, HCL , Wipro, Voltas ,First Source and Sudexo , the IT companies on OMR which did not declare holiday on April 24,2014 , the day of Lok Sabha election came under the scrutiny of Semmenchery police station on Sunday. All the six companies were filed FIR against non bailable offence.                  Representation of People Act, Negotiable Instruments Act and Factories Act were violated according to the election commission, by not declaring a holiday on the voting day. Other companies on OMR had followed suite with the rule given by Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar to declare a paid holiday on April 24.                                     Traffic at OMR almost came to a standstill today since afternoon due to election campaign by Chief Minister Jayalalitha at Kandanchavadi. Bus, Car , Auto and two wheelers were stranded due to the campaign. Traffic was diverted through Taramani road creating more congestion for commuters. Commuters travelling to areas like Shollinganallur and Velachery were particularly affected by this. With the summer heat raising , it was a tough time  indeed for OMR Riders on  the IT Corridor today.

                       Traffic in OMR can be a headache for commuters especially in signals like Thiruvanmiyur, tidel park and Sholinganallur signals. With over a lakh of vehicles travelling the IT Corridor daily this poses a big challenge to the traffic police to control the flow of traffic. Chennai traffic police had already come up with initiatives like allowing only left turn in Sholinganallur signal to solve this problem.
