The jewel on OMR - TCS IT park @SIPCOT

Six butterflies, and on viewing from top they all look like a single giant butterfly. The 6 Engineering blocks in SIPCOT IT park owned by Tata Consultancy Services are an aesthetic retreat.Designed by an Uruguay architect named Carlos, these steel giants are designed in such a way that they can leave the first time onlookers in disbelief. Each block is built similar to Indian temples, broad at the bottom and tapering towards the top in steps:

There is a giant roof on top of each block and each block has two sub-blocks called North Wing and South Wing and they are joined together in the middle with elevators .Surrounding each blocks are plants of different varieties lining up beautifully. More plants between the two wings within the blocks arranged in concentric circles just add to its beauty:

More beautiful is the giant roof in the midst of the blocks appearing like a dinosaur. It won the Asia Pacific property awards-2011 under office architecture for this exquisite beauty. All the blocks appear similar and newbies can get confused as where they are when they arrive new to work in this giant office.

Under the dinosaur roof is this beautiful mini park , good for taking a walk after a heavy lunch and do some chit chat.

Located on Old Mahabalipuram Road , it is quite far away from the city and few employees travel for even 3 hours (single way) to reach this park. This will probably reduce as more professionals are moving towards Siruseri to settle down in the upcoming apartments. The travel is quite smooth on OMR except at Shollinganallur which can take a blow at times ,more hard on hot summers.

It is probably the most beautiful design in Chennai and OMR has the pride of having it.

So how was the ride?

Exhausting?

Bus stops @ OMR

OMR is almost a straight highway, taking a bus ride can be smooth except at few junctions like Tidel park and Shollinganallur.Though MTC offers nearly 400 trips a day, buses are often crowded. The hot sun adds to the uneasiness. There are a few AC buses though mostly taken by IT professionals working in software companies situated along the IT corridor.                                         To take these bus rides, commuters have to wait at bus stops situated along the road. There are 23 major bus stops as of now and two routes , one from Adyar to Kelambakkam and the other from Velachery to Kelambakkam. Both these routes meet at SRP tools.
