                                                (Image for representation only) Multi level parking lot:   The Hindu today reported that a multi level parking lot is soon to be built in Siruseri on OMR to overcome existing parking issues.   Facilities :  The Parking lot will be a mutli level type with food court, children’s play area and space for a commercial complex. 2000 cars and 50 buses can be parked in the area.The total area of the parking lot will be 5 acres    Construction :   The construction is proposed to be done using BOT (Build Operate Transfer) method for 1 crore rupees.   BOT (Wikipedia): ( In the BOT framework a third party, for example the public administration, delegates to a private sector entity to design and build infrastructure and to operate and maintain these facilities for a certain period.      Chennai traffic police has mandated the use of seat belts across the city , considering the safety of passengers and the road accidents.      A fine amount of 100 rupees should be paid if caught not wearing a seat belt. The rule has been imposed starting in highways like Old mahabalipuram road. An article by The Hindu says that so far 331 cases have been fined collecting an amount of 33000 rupees   Beware OMR riders , Have a safe journey!  Smart cards                Times of India recently posted an article that soon Chennai bus travellers will be offered smart cards to take tickets. And the trial will be first conducted on OMR along with Adyar. This is planned to be implemented during March of next year. ETM machines                 OMR riders need to swipe in their smart cards at the Electrionic Ticketing Machine (ETM) on entering the bus.The smart cards can be topped up at bus depots or the conductors who will make surprise checks as the article says Why OMR                 OMR has the most number of Volvo buses and as the article cited people on OMR are more welcome to change.
