Traffic changes at Shollinganallur junction - No Right Turn , Only 'U' Turn Allowed


                                       
                                            Shollinganallur is a high traffic junction. As OMR Riders are aware this junction links OMR with ECR and often is very congested during office hours. To decrease this bottleneck , Chennai Traffic police has come up with a small innovation..


No Right Turn , Only U Turn

                                          By this new rule , commuters coming from Madhya Kailash and heading towards Kelambakkam or commuters coming from Kelambakkam and heading towards Madhya Kailash are not allowed to take right turn at Shollinganallur junction. Instead they should go straight , take a 'U' turn ,come back to the signal and then take a left.

                                                   Not Allowed!


                                             New rule!





This would reduce the congestion at the junction and it is so far welcomed by commuters.


But what about the U turn ?

                                     Since OMR is quite wide in breadth , taking a 'U' turn will not cause much traffic and is a better solution. Henceforth this should reduce the high traffic at Shollinganallur to some extent.Brilliant initiative by Chennai Traffic police! or is it? What is your opinion? Post your comments below!
