Times of India reports that a flyover construction has been approved by the Government to be built over OMR connecting ECR. The approval has been given by the state highways department. The flyover would start at Tidal park in OMR and end near Thiruvanmiyur RTO at ECR.

Tidal park has one of the busiest traffics in the city.Almost 30,000 vehicles ply this road everyday making it cumbersome for the travellers. This flyover once constructed should ease this traffic a bit making it easier for the travellers who cross this junction daily. There are around 16 bridges and flyover in the city and this will add to it .And it is one of the costliest so far constructed in the city. The details have been finalized and officials are looking for land acquisition right now as reported by TOI.

Next to Tidal park , Shollinganallur remains a major traffic bottleneck on OMR. Adding to this Chennai's hot summer just makes things worse for the OMR rider.Except for these junctions the ride on OMR is quite straight and smooth. Hope a new flyover gets constructed over Shollinganallur as well making it easier for the OMR rider to have a even smoother ride. With increasing apartments and IT industries on OMR, traffic should only increase in the future making construction of flyovers over these junctions a necessity.Let us hope they materialize soon.

Flyovers over OMR should be a beautiful sight indeed!

Happy journey OMR Riders!

Bus stops @ OMR

OMR is almost a straight highway, taking a bus ride can be smooth except at few junctions like Tidel park and Shollinganallur.Though MTC offers nearly 400 trips a day, buses are often crowded. The hot sun adds to the uneasiness. There are a few AC buses though mostly taken by IT professionals working in software companies situated along the IT corridor.                                         To take these bus rides, commuters have to wait at bus stops situated along the road. There are 23 major bus stops as of now and two routes , one from Adyar to Kelambakkam and the other from Velachery to Kelambakkam. Both these routes meet at SRP tools.
