With over 290 members in its facebook group the association was conceived by senior Bengali IT Professionals working in Chennai. The Hindu wrote an article on their association on Sep 26,2014( Bong bonding stretches to OMR ). The article cites that the association started with the 'Jhal Muri' meetings (Jhal Muri is a spicy rice preparation in Bengal) organised by Sanjay Dhol, the president of the association and gradually expanded to attract the others. The low figure is due to Tidel park junction where OMR riders are forced to wait for an average of 3 minutes. Apart from Tidel park , Sholinganallur and SRP tools are also crucial junctions slowing down riders.
